Sywell Aviation Museum Events March 2018

Bill Purchase Around the World in a Chipmunk

As part of their winter talks the Sywell Aviation Museum had engaged Bill Purchase to tell his story of an around the world flight in a Chipmunk, in fact a couple of Chipmunks.

On Sunday 11 March 2018 Bill was at the Museum to have his picture taken by the Chipmunk cockpit exhibit after which he talked  the assembled audience through the story with a variety of peripheral anecdotes.

Unfortunately the talk was not very well attended mainly due to the fact that it was Mothering Sunday (and the author's birthday, although that may have had little or no bearing on the matter!).

Another excellent talk organised by the Sywell Aviation Museum.

Grand Opening of the Sywell Aviation Museum

Traditional the Sywell Aviation Museum is opened officially for the start of a new season on Easter Sunday and 2018 was no exception.
The day was well attended by the public, enthusiasts and military re-enactors and their vehicles, but unfortunately the weather let the event down.
Nonetheless a lovely Beech C-45 (Expeditor) made it from Leicester but other visiting aircraft where preventing from doing so due to serviceability or by the weather up and down the country.

Here are a couple of images of the visiting Beech C-45 Expeditor.
