Stoke Golding Stakeout Fly-In 2016

On the weekend of July 23rd and 24th the Stoke Golding Airfield held its annual "Stoke Golding Stakeout and Open Weekend". 

The legendary event has grown into a "must visit event" for visiting pilots and enthusiasts alike.

These are the opening words of small article in this week's edition of the  Local Rock an information packed free booklet for the Hinckley area.

The airfield is situated to the North West of Hinckley on the Leicestershire/Warwickshire border.

The admission fee for the event was a mere £4 and that included a £2 raffle ticket for a flight in either a microlight or a rather smart looking Waco biplane.

In addition to the aircraft there was a rather large contingent of classic cars and a threesome of handsome small vintage

tractors, and some motorbikes. Several stalls with cakes, crafts and hot food, all at very reasonable prices ensured there was always something to do, see and eat in between aircraft movements.

I met up with Ray Ball in the car park at around 9am on the Sunday. Ray had been there the previous day in the afternoon when the weather was better in that there was sunshine, something we saw very little of on Sunday. At least it was a bit cooler and not photographing camouflaged aircraft but colourful ones instead did not hinder the photographic experience. 

The remainder of this blog contains  of the aircraft and the cars we had the pleasure of seeing and I will let those images speak for themselves.

 

Probably a greater variety of cars than aircraft, but that did not stop the enjoyment of the atmosphere at this very local event. One for next year-s calendar.
