The Lightning Preservation Group's Lightning F3 XR713, that was rescued and brought to Bruntingthorpe last year had been commissioned for a repaint. The aircraft had arrived a special 111 Sqn paint scheme and the new paint scheme would be sponsored by a group of aviation photographers through donations and a photoshoot as a fundraiser.
The date of the Photoshoot was Sunday 24 July 2017 and as can be seen in the picture on the right it was a bit wet, but only to start with. The dramatic and dark skies produced some terrific backgrounds for photography as did the blue skies later in the day. A re-enactor, Rob, was present in period flying gear (later in green flying gear) with a specially marked 56 Sqn helmet.
